The Grand Haven Beach House renovation project aimed to bring a new sense of community to the town. The State of Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) assisted in sparking the ideation process behind the design and let us tour the facility. Throughout the past ten weeks, I analyzed, researched, and gathered data to support new design solutions. The main level will highlight private rental spaces, multiple indoor seating areas to take refuge from the sun, outdoor gathering areas with food truck spaces and engaging activities free for the public. The upper level will serve the community with a renovated office space for the DNR that features a conference room, kitchen, and a security deck to monitor the beach.
